Call from Dilek İmamoğlu for her brother Ali Kaya: Who will be held accountable?
Following the negative drug test result for her brother Ali Kaya, Dilek İmamoğlu issued a statement emphasizing that he should be released immediately, asking, "Who will be held accountable for the heavy price paid by someone who should not have been kept in prison for even an hour?"
Dilek Kaya İmamoğlu, wife of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, made a statement after the Forensic Medicine Institute test results for her brother, Ali Kaya, who was arrested as part of a "drug" investigation, came back negative. İmamoğlu emphasized that her brother should be released immediately.
Sharing on her social media account, Dilek İmamoğlu stated that the price paid by her brother was heavy. In her post, she reacted to the process, saying, "What should happen is his immediate release. Who will be held accountable for the heavy price paid by someone who should not have been kept in prison for even an hour?"
"TRUST IN THE JUDICIARY IS DIMINISHING"
Drawing attention to the social consequences of such incidents, İmamoğlu made the following call to the Ministry of Justice:
"Today, the result of the drug test performed on my brother Ali Kaya came back NEGATIVE.
So what happens now? What should happen is his immediate release.
I am asking now; who will be held accountable for the heavy price paid by someone who should not have been kept in prison for even an hour?
Reputations are being damaged, families are being worn down, and shadows are being cast over lives. These things have no benefit to our country; on the contrary, because of these events, trust in the judiciary is diminishing day by day.
Pressuring families does not give anyone power; it only wounds the conscience of society and shakes trust in justice.
Trial without detention is essential; all our detainees should be released immediately and the system should shift to trial without detention.
That is why, once again, I say it as clearly as possible:
Stay away from families.
Do not make families targets.
Stop instrumentalizing the law."
