Call to action for CHP from Meriç Köyatası: 'Seal all tourist hotels'

Bolu Deputy Mayor Sedat Gülener was recently arrested in connection with the fire that broke out at the Grand Kartal Hotel at the Bolu Kartalkaya Ski Center. Columnist Meriç Köyatası, in reaction to Gülener remaining in custody, called on CHP-run municipalities to seal the tourist hotels in their provinces.

Pointing out that the burned hotel is under the inspection authority of the Ministry of Tourism, Köyatası stated that despite this, the Bolu Municipality is being held responsible.

Emphasizing the 'irony' of the situation, Köyatası expressed his reaction in a message shared on his social media account X with the following words:

'Since the Bolu Deputy Mayor has been arrested. Since the authority lies with the Ministry of Tourism but the responsibility lies with the municipality. Then here is a real call to action for the CHP… In all provinces where there are CHP-run municipalities, let them seal all tourist hotels in Istanbul, Izmir, Antalya, and Muğla. That is a stance, that is an action.'

The support comments received on Köyatası's post, which invited the CHP to take 'action,' also drew attention. In the comments, X users shared messages demanding that the CHP 'take action.'
