Call to the President from former Minister of Culture and Tourism Ertuğrul Günay: 'He must resign'

78 people lost their lives in the fire that broke out at the Grand Kartal Hotel in Bolu.

While the incident plunged all of Turkey into mourning, numerous people were detained in the investigation that was launched, and individuals including the hotel owner and the operations manager were arrested.

Former Minister of Culture and Tourism Ertuğrul Günay made notable statements during the broadcast he attended. Stating that "Minister Ersoy must resign," Günay said, "As long as he sits in that seat, the investigation cannot be conducted properly."

THE DEBATE OVER RESPONSIBILITY

The deficiencies that emerged at the hotel following the fire sparked a debate over negligence. The dispute between Bolu Mayor Tanju Özcan and Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy regarding who holds the authority has found a wide place on the agenda.

FORMER MINISTER GÜNAY: "MINISTER ERSOY MUST RESIGN"

A statement on the subject also came from former Minister of Culture and Tourism Ertuğrul Günay. Speaking on a live broadcast on Tele 1, Günay expressed the following:

"We are a society that panics when the state is mentioned, yet the state exists for the people. Neither the government nor the opposition has any concern for raising public awareness. Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy must resign. Personally, if I were in his place, I would have resigned long ago.

"THE INVESTIGATION CANNOT BE CONDUCTED PROPERLY"

He also has a legal responsibility; he is the owner of the agency that sent people there. As long as Mehmet Nuri Ersoy sits in that seat, the investigation cannot be conducted properly. At the same time, he is the person who brought customers there. The President must intervene in this matter."
