Can Holding Chairman Kemal Can, who was arrested as part of an investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office into Can Yayın Holding on charges of "membership in a criminal organization for profit" and "laundering assets derived from crime," has been released under judicial control in the form of house arrest.
KENAN TEKDAĞ HAD ALSO BEEN RELEASED
While the investigation was ongoing, Can Yayın Holding Chairman Kenan Tekdağ, who had been arrested, was released on March 31. Following Tekdağ, Kemal Can was also released today under judicial control in the form of house arrest.
WHAT HAPPENED IN THE BACKGROUND OF THE INVESTIGATION?
As part of the investigation initiated by the Küçükçekmece Chief Public Prosecutor's Office in Istanbul, detention warrants were issued for 10 people, including Can Holding executives Mehmet Şakir Can, Kemal Can, and Kenan Tekdağ, and 6 people were taken into custody. While 5 of the detained individuals were arrested on charges of "establishing a criminal organization," "smuggling," "fraud," and "money laundering," Tekdağ was released under judicial control in the form of house arrest. In the later stages of the investigation, Kenan Tekdağ was detained again and arrested.
Trustees were appointed to manage a total of 130 companies within the holding, initially 121 and subsequently 9 companies.
