Canan Kaftancıoğlu criticizes CHP: Was it right not to march to Taksim?
Former CHP Istanbul Provincial Chair Canan Kaftancıoğlu criticized the CHP's stance on May 1st via her X account. Kaftancıoğlu stated that the decision made, with the remark "God willing, next year," was not the right one.
CHP Chairman Özgür Özel and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu came to Saraçhane for May 1st and delivered speeches. In his speech, Özel said, "Of course, the target is Taksim Square. The symbolic square of May 1st is Taksim Square." He recalled his meetings with Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya and then left the area.
Former CHP Istanbul Provincial Chair Canan Kaftancıoğlu, who criticized the CHP for not marching to Taksim, voiced her criticism via her X account.
Regarding the image she shared, Kaftancıoğlu added the following, saying it should be the "cover of the new constitution booklet":

Kaftancıoğlu's post is as follows:
"My May 1st impressions and what was discussed;
Early in the morning, Taksim and its surroundings were naturally swarming with police.
The dialogue between the security forces themselves:
'-Brother, our superiors! They are very afraid of people going up to Taksim.
-If the unions stand firm and the CHP (Özgür Özel was mentioned) marches, we cannot stop them.
-If they don't give up, it's hard for us to stop them.
-What would happen if they did go up?'
In such a period, while even the security forces thought they wouldn't be able to stop them,
it would have been more elegant and, in my opinion, more correct if, instead of calling for a 'walk to be abandoned' by unions and parties to avoid tension, it had been said that we will celebrate May 1st in Saraçhane.
Let's say, God willing, next year. #May1
Let this remain here as a cover (for the New Constitution Booklet)."
