Canan Kaftancıoğlu gives statement at Istanbul Police Department: Comment on President Erdoğan's statement
Former CHP Istanbul Provincial Chair Canan Kaftancıoğlu was summoned to the police department to give a statement regarding a social media post.
Former CHP Istanbul Provincial Chair Canan Kaftancıoğlu has given a statement at the Istanbul Police Department.
It was learned that Kaftancıoğlu was summoned to give a statement due to a comment she made while sharing a statement posted by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on his social media account.
Canan Kaftancıoğlu had reshared Erdoğan's words: "Whether in Istanbul or elsewhere, if there is a 'Deli Dumrul' order in place, no one can expect the judiciary to turn a blind eye to it.
The fact that those who plunder resources entrusted to them, which contain the rights of orphans, are held accountable before justice is the most concrete sign that the rule of law is functioning in our country.
It is the duty of all of us to defend the rights, laws, and interests of this nation. Whoever is acting like a bandit, whoever is reaching for the public treasury, whoever is extorting money from others, it is our debt of honor to ensure they are held accountable within the framework of the principles of the rule of law, regardless of their identity," and added the comment: "It is also our debt of honor... The days when those who reach for the public treasury will be tried are near."
Kaftancıoğlu, whose statement procedures were completed, has left the police department.
