Çankaya Mayor Güner reacts to 'arrest due to secret witness testimony': Speaks on former Chief of Staff

Güner made a statement regarding former Chief of Staff Sadık Can Köksal, who was arrested after being taken into custody.

Stating that there is no concrete evidence to support the allegations directed at Köksal, Güner emphasized that two separate tests conducted during the detention process came back negative and that the arrest decision was based solely on "abstract and baseless" secret witness testimony.

"Both tests came back negative"

Stating that, contrary to claims in some media outlets, no charges other than illegal substance use were directed at Köksal, Güner shared the following details regarding the process:

During the detention process, two separate tests were conducted both in Ankara and Istanbul, and the results of both tests were negative.

No criminal elements were found during the searches conducted at Köksal's residence.

Köksal declared that he has never used illegal substances at any point in his life, and this situation was confirmed by both the test results and the evidence collected.

"Secret witness testimony is abstract, inconsistent, and baseless"

Reacting to the arrest decision, Güner stated that despite the presence of concrete evidence and test results, the secret witness testimony was shown as the sole justification for the arrest of his colleague. Stating that the statements in question "turned out to be nothing more than slander," Güner described the secret witness accounts as "abstract, inconsistent, and baseless."

Güner concluded his statement with the following words:

"With our belief that the truth and the righteous will emerge sooner or later, we present the process to the information and appreciation of the public."
