Car dealer businessman was murdered: That murder has been solved

The murder of car dealer Sertaç Çelikçi, who was killed in an armed attack in front of his home in Istanbul's Küçükçekmece district, has been solved through meticulous police work. According to allegations, a week before the murder, a group of 6 people came to Çelikçi's workplace and threatened him, saying, 'We have fined you 5 million TL.' The incident occurred on the evening of November 6, 2023, in the Söğütlüçeşme Neighborhood. According to allegations, car dealer and father of one, Sertaç Çelikçi (36), was subjected to an armed attack by a person wearing a surgical mask and a hoodie while in front of his home. The businessman, who was wounded, lost his life at the hospital where he was taken.

'WE HAVE FINED YOU 5 MILLION TL'

Following the incident, teams from the Public Security Branch Office Homicide Bureau took action. The homicide experts conducting the investigation determined that the attacker fled the scene with a person on a motorcycle who was waiting for him. While the police were working to identify the attackers, they reached information about an incident that took place a week earlier. According to the information obtained, one week before the murder, a total of 6 people led by Serhat K. came to Çelikçi's workplace. The individuals who arrived allegedly demanded money from the businessman Çelikçi, saying, 'You sent a threatening message to Y. using the name of the Daltons. We have fined you 5 million TL.'

'IF THEY WON'T PAY, KILL THEM'

According to allegations, Çelikçi stated that he did not owe anyone any money. Upon this, Serhat K. made a video call with Beratcan Gökdemir, known as 'Can Dalton', and said that Çelikçi did not want to pay the money. After Gökdemir, who is subject to a red notice, said, 'If they won't pay, kill them,' Çelikçi took the phone and reiterated to Beratcan Gökdemir that he did not owe anyone anything. Following this conversation, the 6 suspects threatened Çelikçi and left the workplace.

FOUND IN PRISON FOR ANOTHER CRIME

The police, investigating Serhat K., who was determined to have coordinated the group, discovered that the suspect had been caught 2 days before the murder for motorcycle theft along with a person named Mustafa K. It was observed that Serhat K. was arrested for this theft crime, while Mustafa K. was released. These clues led the police to the gunman and the other suspects.

IDENTITIES DETERMINED

The Homicide teams, continuing their intelligence work and review of security camera footage, determined that one of the two attackers who carried out the assault was Mustafa K. (18), who had been caught and released along with Serhat K. in the motorcycle theft incident. The other person was identified as Muhammed A. (19).

GUNMEN STAYING IN A LUXURY HOTEL

Following the information obtained, it was determined that the gunmen were staying at a luxury hotel in Küçükçekmece. During the checks, it was determined that the suspects had fled the hotel. In the search of the rooms where they stayed, 1 unmarked 9 mm pistol and 1 unmarked long-barreled automatic weapon, along with a total of 61 cartridges, were seized. As the work continued, the suspect Mustafa K., who was involved in the attack, was apprehended.

2 PEOPLE IN PRISON, 4 PEOPLE APPREHENDED

It was determined that after Serhat K., another person among the group that came to Çelikçi's workplace had entered prison for another crime. In the ongoing operations, 2 more people from the 6-person group were taken into custody. Additionally, Cevat K., who was the former partner of the murdered Çelikçi and with whom there was a dispute over money, was also taken into custody. The investigation into the incident, in which a total of 4 people are in custody, is being carried out extensively.
