Carjacked driver recounts terrifying moments: 'The attacker opened the door and threw me out'

Yesterday afternoon, while Selim Örencik (58) was driving his truck with license plate 34 FTG 862 at the Gölbaşı - Mamak Highway junction in Ankara, a person named O.O. (36) jumped in front of his vehicle.

O.O., who reached the open window of the moving vehicle, entered the truck and attacked Örencik from behind. After incapacitating the driver and throwing him out of the vehicle, O.O. fled the scene with the truck.

Following Örencik's report, police teams launched an investigation and apprehended O.O. in Çankaya along with the stolen truck.

It was reported that the attacker would be referred to the courthouse following police procedures, while the stolen vehicle was returned to Örencik.

'HE OPENED THE DOOR AND THREW ME OUT'

Speaking about the incident, Selim Örencik said, "I saw a person in the middle of the road. He was jumping in front of cars and trying to stop them. At that moment, he jumped in front of my vehicle. He tried to enter through the open window. I tried to close the window. At first, he couldn't get in. Then I started to speed up. He threw himself inside and moved to the back. He grabbed one of the pens in the vehicle and started trying to stab it into my throat. The pen broke. We started struggling at that moment. I lost control of the steering wheel. After moving for a while, the attacker opened the door. He threw me out. I asked for help from passersby. Someone took me to the police station. I gave my statement. My vehicle was also found and I received it back. The attacker had a utility knife on him. It's a good thing he didn't attack with that," he said.
