Ceasefire talks begin in Doha: Hamas not participating
Ceasefire talks have begun in Doha at the call of the US, Qatar, and Egypt to end the Israeli massacre in Gaza. However, Hamas is not participating in the talks.
Ceasefire talks for Gaza have begun in Doha under the mediation of the US, Egypt, and Qatar.
The head of Israel's foreign intelligence service, Mossad, is also expected to join his American and Egyptian counterparts and the Qatari prime minister for this new round of talks.
White House National Security Spokesperson John Kirby said in an interview with the American television network CNN, "The US is calling on all parties to come to the table for a ceasefire in Gaza."
Hamas, one of the parties to the war, is not at the table.
Hamas's condition for sitting at the table was to continue negotiations based on the ceasefire agreement presented by United States President Joe Biden and accepted by the United Nations Security Council.
A senior Hamas official accused Israel of using the ceasefire talks to prolong the war in Gaza. The Israeli Prime Minister's Office had announced that it would participate in the negotiations.
STATEMENT FROM THE WHITE HOUSE
It was stated that the Washington administration would be represented by CIA Director William Burns and Middle East envoy Brett McGurk.
The American administration's expectation is that a possible ceasefire in Gaza will prevent Iran's military retaliation against Israel.
According to statements given to Reuters by three Iranian officials, this is indeed the case.
The Israeli delegation includes David Barnea, the head of Israeli intelligence, and Ronen Bar, the head of the Internal Security Service.
Hamas accuses Tel Aviv of adding new clauses to the ceasefire text presented by US President Biden, which had been previously agreed upon.
According to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the situation is the exact opposite. Furthermore, according to Netanyahu, one of the biggest obstacles to a ceasefire is the new Hamas leader, Yahya Sinwar.
