Ceiling collapses in TOKİ-built housing

Footage emerging from TOKİ's earthquake housing in the Samandağ district of Hatay has ignited a major debate. In Hatay, one of the cities most affected by the February 6 earthquakes, images showing a ceiling collapse in buildings constructed by TOKİ in Samandağ, as well as patch-up jobs covering workmanship errors, have spread across social media. These images have raised questions regarding the oversight of construction activities.

WORKMANSHIP ERRORS DOCUMENTED

According to a report by Erdoğan Süzer from Sözcü, a major ceiling collapse occurred in a residential unit under construction within the buildings part of TOKİ's 3rd phase projects.

In the footage shared by journalist Mustafa Dilek, it was reported that a patch was applied because the collapse left bare iron exposed. Following the documentation of the patch, it was also noted that there were manufacturing errors and workmanship deficiencies in many parts of the building.

This situation in Samandağ has led to concerns regarding the safety of construction work in Hatay, which was devastated by the earthquake.
