Censure for Ahmet Şık and Alpay Özalan
The Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) convened in an extraordinary session to discuss the Constitutional Court's ruling regarding the revocation of Can Atalay's parliamentary seat. During the session, a dispute between TİP MP Ahmet Şık and AKP MP Alpay Özalan escalated into a physical brawl.
Following a long break after the fight, Parliament Speaker Kurtulmuş took over the session regarding Atalay.
Kurtulmuş stated that parliamentary proceedings should continue using clean language. Voices from the opposition benches shouted, "Tell that to Alpay Özalan."
Numan Kurtulmuş stated that he would read the penalties to be imposed with the consensus of the group deputy chairmen, and subsequently, the motion to issue a censure to Ahmet Şık for his remarks and a censure to Alpay Özalan for his physical actions was voted on and accepted.
After the proceedings resumed, SAADET Group Deputy Chairman Bülent Kaya was the first to take the floor. While Kaya was speaking, shouts of "Is there safety of life?" and "Watch out for Alpay" were heard from the opposition benches.
