Çerçioğlu, who switched to AKP, 'unable to manage' first council meeting: Postponed the meeting
At her first council meeting after switching to the AKP, Özlem Çerçioğlu postponed the session following tensions and protests, stating, "I cannot manage it this way."
A council meeting was held yesterday around 18:00, presided over by Aydın Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Özlem Çerçioğlu.
The Aydın Provincial Police Department took extensive security measures for the meeting. Mayors, council members, and journalists were admitted to the council chamber.
During the meeting, which was chaired by Aydın Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Özlem Çerçioğlu, the CHP group cast a dissenting vote on the 30-item council agenda.
Furthermore, the CHP group protested by banging on the tables during Çerçioğlu's speech.
Due to the tensions, Mayor Çerçioğlu postponed the council meeting to October 14. The council chamber was safely evacuated by the police.
