Ceremony held at Atatürk's House in Thessaloniki

In his speech at the ceremony, Türkiye's Consul General in Thessaloniki, Serkan Gedik, greeted the guests and his colleagues, stating that they were celebrating Republic Day with enthusiasm and pride.

Gedik said, "We are honored to be in the house where the Great Atatürk, the founder of our Republic, was born, and to celebrate this special day in his spiritual presence."

Underlining that the enthusiasm felt since last year, when the first century of the Republic was left behind, continues to grow this year, Gedik emphasized their determination to always keep the Republic alive and carry it further along the path targeted by Atatürk.

Emphasizing that the founding of the Republic and its existence today were achieved through great struggle and sacrifice, the Consul General stated, "We commemorate with mercy and gratitude our Ancestor, his comrades-in-arms, our heroic martyrs, and our veterans who have passed away, to whom we owe everything we possess today, especially our independence."

In his speech, Gedik also condemned the terrorist attack on Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAŞ), wishing God's mercy upon the martyrs and a speedy recovery to the wounded.

INTENSE INTEREST IN ATATÜRK'S HOUSE

Consul General Gedik stated that they are very pleased with the intense interest of visitors in Atatürk's House.

Gedik noted that approximately 450,000 people have visited the museum this year, which hosted 285,000 visitors in 2023.

Stating that visitors of all ages are paying their respects to Atatürk at this special place, Gedik said, "We welcome everyone, but primarily the youth and children to whom our Ancestor entrusted our Republic."
