Channel co-owned by Acun Ilıcalı has been transferred
Acun Medya, owned by Acun Ilıcalı, had acquired 50 percent of the Sport1 channel, a subsidiary of the Swiss-based media group Highlight Communications, about a year ago for 30 million euros.
According to German news sites meedia.de and teltarif.de, the channel in which Acun Ilıcalı held a partnership has been transferred. According to the report, the Sport1 and eSPORTS1 channels will continue their broadcasting life as Sportdigital1+ and eSportsONE.
The Sport1 platform has also decided to transfer its two linear TV channels, Sport1 and eSPORTS1.
The report stated that the channels were sold to Sportdigital TV Sende- und Productions GmbH.
According to the report in PatronlarDunyası, Gisbert Wundram, General Manager of Sportdigital TV Sende- und Productions GmbH, said the following regarding the new restructuring process:
“The expansion of our pay-TV activities in the sports sector and the broadening of our sports digital program portfolio in the German-speaking region is a very important milestone in our company's history. We would like to thank the management and shareholders of SPORT1 for their trust, and we will thus consistently develop our pay-TV business in the future with our proven 'Sportdigital philosophy' to inspire more people for the live sports we produce beyond football.”
