CHD trial adjourned! 'Legal activity cannot be put on trial'
The trial of CHD Honorary President Selçuk Kozağaçlı and 5 lawyers, who are being tried on charges of 'making terrorist organization propaganda,' has been adjourned to October 21, 2025. Making a statement before the hearing, the CHD called for solidarity and invited all legal professionals and its members to the courtroom.
The trial in which Progressive Lawyers Association (CHD) Honorary President Selçuk Kozağaçlı and lawyers Barkın Timtik, Oya Aslan, Özgür Yılmaz, Güçlü Sevimli, and Gülvin Aydın are being tried on the grounds of "making terrorist organization propaganda" has been adjourned to October 21, 2025.
CHD ISSUED A CALL FOR SOLIDARITY
In a statement made by the CHD before the hearing, a call for solidarity was issued for the lawyers.
The statement released by the CHD prior to the hearing included the following: "On Tuesday, May 27, the hearing of the case in which our imprisoned members Selçuk Kozağaçlı, Barkın Timtik, Oya Aslan, and Özgür Yılmaz, as well as our association members Güçlü Sevimli and Gülvin Aydın, are being tried as defendants will be held. The hearing for our colleagues, who are being tried for the crime of propaganda due to their professional activities, will take place at the Istanbul 18th High Criminal Court." The statement concluded with a call for solidarity, saying, "We expect all our members and colleagues to attend the hearing where our imprisoned colleagues will be present in the courtroom."
