Chemical panic in Pendik: 'Do not go outside, close your windows' warning issued!

In Pendik, a chemical substance spilled onto the road after a tanker became stuck while failing to navigate a turn on a street.

The tanker, driven by Oktay D. and carrying chemicals for a factory from Adana to Istanbul, became stuck on a street in the Kavakpınar area after failing to make a turn.

"SPILLED ONTO THE STREET"

During the incident, the tanker's hose detached, causing hydrochloric acid to spill onto the street.

White smoke emanating from the liquid spread across the road, intensified by the heavy rain.

"NUMEROUS TEAMS DISPATCHED TO THE AREA"

Upon notification, fire, medical, police, municipal police, UMKE, and AFAD teams were dispatched to the scene.

"WARNING TO CITIZENS: 'DO NOT GO OUTSIDE'"

While teams took security measures in the area, they warned local residents not to go outside and to keep their windows closed.

Cleanup efforts were initiated for the chemical substance, which flowed into the sewage system and into a creek, causing environmental pollution.

"SUCH ACCIDENTS HAPPEN VERY OFTEN"

Local resident Bülent Kaya explained that similar accidents occur frequently on the street due to incorrect directions from navigation applications.

"LOCAL RESIDENTS ARE UNEASY"

Kaya stated that an odor spread throughout the area following the accident, which has left local residents feeling uneasy.
