The decision of non-prosecution issued in 2012 regarding the death of former MIT member Kaşif Kozinoğlu in prison on November 12, 2011, has been overturned, and the investigation has been restarted. Within the scope of the investigation, the then-Silivri Chief Public Prosecutor Ali İşgören, former prison prosecutor Necip Doğan, and former MIT official Enver Altaylı were arrested. House arrest was ordered for Kozinoğlu's cellmates Hasan Atilla Uğur and Hasan Ataman Yıldırım.
The testimony of the then-Chief Prison Guard Ömer Vatan has been obtained as part of the investigation.
KOZİNOĞLU'S CELL CHANGE
According to a report by Sabah Newspaper, Vatan explained that in the first days after Kozinoğlu arrived at the prison, he thought he would be released shortly. He stated that Kozinoğlu, who initially requested a single-person cell, submitted a petition after seeing the room he was shown, saying, "I cannot stay here."
"I WAS ALREADY SET UP, I WILL MOST LIKELY BE RELEASED TOMORROW"
According to Vatan's testimony, Kozinoğlu said he knew Hasan Atilla Uğur and wanted to move to the three-person cell where Uğur and Hasan Ataman Yıldırım were staying. During the transfer, he told Vatan, "I was already set up, I will most likely be released tomorrow."
"APO" DEBATE IN THE CELL
Vatan reported that during a conversation in the cell, when Hasan Atilla Uğur was referred to as "the commander who brought Apo," Kozinoğlu objected to this.
Vatan's testimony included Kozinoğlu saying, "We were the ones who brought Apo; he was only present during his interrogation."
REMARKS REGARDING UĞUR'S HEALTH CONDITION
Vatan also stated that during an incident regarding Hasan Atilla Uğur's health condition, Kozinoğlu told him about Uğur, "He is faking it too."
Vatan noted that he was on leave on November 12, 2011, the day Kozinoğlu lost his life, and stated that he was not at the prison during the incident.
