A decision has been made regarding social media influencers who were ordered to be detained as part of illegal betting operations. The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has requested that the influencers' social media accounts be blocked.
The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has requested that access be blocked to the social media accounts of influencers who were arrested on charges of advertising and encouraging illegal betting. The follower counts on the social media accounts of the influencers currently in prison range from hundreds of thousands to millions.
An investigation was launched by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office into celebrities who promoted illegal betting advertisements on social media, and 12 people were arrested within this scope. Judicial control measures were imposed on Serdar Ortaç and Mehmet Ali Erbil.

FIRST REQUEST FROM THE PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE: EVERYONE SHOULD BE ARRESTED
Among the 16 people apprehended were Serdar Ortaç and Mehmet Ali Erbil. While 12 of the famous names referred to the courthouse were arrested, judicial control decisions were issued for 4 people, including Erbil and Ortaç. This morning, the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office requested the arrest of the 4 individuals who had been released under judicial control.

Among the influencers referred to the court with a request for arrest yesterday was Instagram influencer İbrahim Yılmaz. Yılmaz, who became popular on social media with his "Do you follow me?" concept videos, stands out with his posts where he also distributes money to those who follow him, and through this, he manages his account with 18.9 million followers (as of 12.11.2024).
