Child with autism sets house on fire

The incident occurred in an apartment building located on Gazi Mustafa Kemal Boulevard in the İzzet Baysal neighborhood. According to the information obtained, the woman living on the first floor of the apartment left her 14-year-old child with autism at home and went to the market. While the child was at home with his older brother, he set the house on fire. The woman was shocked to see that a fire had broken out in her home upon returning from the market. Following a report to the 112 Emergency Call Center, health, police, and fire department teams were dispatched to the address. The children in the house and the residents living in other apartments were evacuated by the teams. The fire, which was extinguished in a short time, caused significant damage to the apartment. Apartment residents reacted to the mother of the child with autism, saying, "We've had enough." The distressed mother rebelled, saying, "Instead of asking me 'What happened, neighbor?', they are telling me to get out."

Şükran Bozoğlu, the aunt of the 14-year-old child with autism, stated, "My sister has a child with autism. He is very problematic and cannot stay still. He needs constant care. My sister went to the market. She doesn't leave him to go anywhere else. They already have such a difficult life. An application has been made to the court to place the child in a care home. The process is ongoing, and we are waiting for the result, but they have to look after him, for better or worse, during this time."

Reacting to the apartment residents, Bozoğlu said, "There is constant reaction from the apartment. Even if there is a little noise, they come to the door. This is a special child. This building hasn't seen anything. They are oblivious to the world. Instead of helping him, you are trying to lynch people."
