Children made to perform tawaf and clean a mosque under the ÇEDES project!

The Ministry of National Education, in cooperation with the Presidency of Religious Affairs and the Ministry of Youth and Sports, has been running the "I Am Sensitive to My Environment, I Protect My Values" (ÇEDES) project, and it has emerged that students at an imam hatip middle school in Hatay were made to perform tawaf and clean a mosque.

It has been revealed that an event similar to the one previously held at Nurs Middle School in the Hizan district of Bitlis, where students were made to walk around a model of the 'Kaaba', was also organized at a school in Hatay. In December 2023, an event themed 'Hajj and Umrah' was held at Altınkaya Imam Hatip Middle School in the Altınözü district of Hatay. A model representing the 'Kaaba' was placed in a classroom. Students, covered with white shawls, performed the act of walking around the model. Additionally, images of the Kaaba were shown on the smart board in the classroom.

The students' act of walking around the model was described on a social media account with the following statements:

“We performed the worship of tawaf practically with our students in our Hajj and Umrah themed event.”

According to a report by BirGün, the events organized at the school under the scope of ÇEDES did not end there. Around the same time, students were taken to the Altınkaya Ravda Mosque. The students were led in prayer by an imam, and afterwards, they swept the floors and wiped the windows and tables. These moments were also shared on social media accounts. Furthermore, it was observed that the children were carrying items inside the mosque.

Additionally, it was seen that the students were taken up to the mosque minaret to recite the takbir, and the children were heard saying, "I am sensitive to my environment, I protect my values." These images were also shared on a social media account as follows:

“Our students, who are sensitive to their environment with the principle that cleanliness is from faith, cleaned and organized the Altınkaya Ravda Mosque. May God be pleased with everyone who contributed. Environmentally conscious, respectful of values, integrated with culture, golden youth.”
