CHP's Başarır announces another 'flying minister' case, calling them the 'Jetson family'

CHP Group Deputy Chairman Ali Mahir Başarır stated that a new case has been added to the private jet travels that became a subject of debate following the publication of the austerity measures circular.

Referring to Minister of Health Fahrettin Koca, Başarır said, "This gentleman also traveled on a plane purchased by the State Airports Authority for calibration services."

"OUR 'JETSON FAMILY' IS GROWING DAY BY DAY"

Stating that Minister Koca traveled to Mardin on March 21, before the March 31 local elections, on a plane belonging to the General Directorate of State Airports Authority used for flight inspection and airport calibration, and attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the Mardin City Hospital, CHP's Başarır made the following statement:

"Our 'Jetson family' is growing day by day. Today, a new minister has joined us. Who? You know him very well, our Minister of Health Fahrettin Koca. This gentleman also traveled on this plane, which was purchased for calibration by the State Airports Authority, for his private and political business. He went to Mardin for the election. On April 10, during the holiday, he went to Hatay. Mr. Minister, we are entering the holiday break. Millions of our citizens, our retirees, and our workers cannot go to their villages or hometowns because they cannot afford a 1,200 lira bus ticket. Every week, I will continue to add a minister like you to the 'Jetson family.' You will not do this, gentlemen, you will not board these planes! The Minister of Agriculture travels with a firefighting plane, you travel with a plane purchased for calibration, the Minister of Transport puts a clause in a tender and travels, while the citizen stays at home during the holiday and cannot go out. This is not acceptable, gentlemen; have a little decency, a little shame."

WHAT HAPPENED?

Following the announcement of austerity measures by Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek, it was revealed that Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdülkadir Uraloğlu had taken a trip to Germany on a plane belonging to the Rönesans company.

Subsequently, it was announced that Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Mehmet Özhaseki had traveled on a mapping plane belonging to the General Directorate of Land Registry and Cadastre, and finally, that Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı had used a firefighting plane belonging to the General Directorate of Forestry for his trips.
