CHP's Bulut reacts to detention of journalist Uludağ: 'An open intimidation'
CHP Deputy Chairman Burhanettin Bulut has reacted sharply to the detention of journalist Alican Uludağ, which was based on his social media posts. Stating that the accusations directed at Uludağ target press freedom, Bulut said, "Labeling every criticism as 'insult' is an antidemocratic mindset."
Journalist Alican Uludağ was detained over posts made on his X (Twitter) account on charges of "publicly insulting the President" and "publicly disseminating misleading information."
"An effort to wear down in courthouse corridors"
Making a statement on his social media account regarding the matter, CHP's Bulut described the events as "intimidation of the opposition media."
Emphasizing that journalists are being subjected to efforts to wear them down in courthouse corridors, Bulut used the following expressions:
"Labeling every criticism as 'insult' and trying to wear down journalists in courthouse corridors is not only an open intimidation directed at the opposition media, but also an antidemocratic mindset that narrows the space for press and expression freedom. Journalism is not a crime!"
