CHP Istanbul Provincial Chair Özgür Çelik announced that they have canceled the national sovereignty march they were set to hold today for the April 23 National Sovereignty and Children's Day, due to the earthquakes that have occurred one after another.
Çelik made the following statement on his social media account:
“Dear Istanbulites, due to the necessity for our District Chairs and Mayors to remain on duty in their districts in a state of alert following the earthquakes, and the need for our neighbors to attend to their families, we have canceled our national sovereignty march scheduled for today. Our Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality is monitoring the process at AKOM, and we are following it on the ground. Our wish is that none of our citizens suffer any loss of life or property, and that such a disaster does not recur. Once again, get well soon.”
