CHP Chairman Özgür Özel commemorates Deniz Gezmiş with a Palestinian keffiyeh
Republican People's Party (CHP) Chairman Özgür Özel attended the commemoration ceremonies for Deniz Gezmiş, Yusuf Aslan, and Hüseyin İnan. The Palestinian keffiyeh worn by Özgür Özel during the ceremony at Ankara's Karşıyaka Cemetery did not go unnoticed.

Özel wore a Palestinian keffiyeh, emphasizing the struggle of the 68 Generation leaders for the Palestinian cause. Özgür Özel made the following statements at the commemoration ceremony.
'Our struggle is the struggle of Deniz Gezmiş'
Özgür Özel, who appeared at the commemoration ceremony wearing a Palestinian scarf, said the following regarding the reasons for this:
“The scarf was worn to remind everyone of Deniz Gezmiş's stance on the Palestinian Cause and to show that we are continuing that stance. There is a Palestinian scarf here. Deniz Gezmiş's cause is also the Palestinian cause. Deniz Gezmiş resisted against Israeli oppression and occupation in the Fatah camps in Palestine. Our words of solidarity with Palestine, our struggle is the struggle of Yasser Arafat and Bülent Ecevit. Our struggle is the struggle of Deniz Gezmiş. It is not just Özgür Özel who follows in the footsteps of Deniz Gezmiş; all members of the Republican People's Party are Deniz Gezmiş, and they follow in the footsteps of Deniz Gezmiş.”
