CHP Chairman Özgür Özel reacts to arrest warrant: 'We will not surrender to the government's cowardice': 'An inept show of force'
CHP Chairman Özgür Özel issued a statement reacting to the arrest warrant issued for Beykoz Mayor Alaattin Köseler.
Reactions are pouring in following the detention of Köseler four days ago and his subsequent arrest by the court.
Following the arrest of CHP Mayor Alaattin Köseler, CHP Chairman Özgür Özel shared a post on his social media account expressing his reaction with the following words.
Özel used the following expressions:
The arrest of our Beykoz Mayor Alaattin Köseler following four days in detention, based on a political decision, has once again shown that the government's intention is to slaughter justice.
To have a 65-year-old elected mayor, who was chosen by one in every two voters in Beykoz, who has a known address, detained at 04:00 in the morning in front of his family, to keep him in detention for four days to intimidate him, and to have him arrested when there is no suspicion of flight is a political choice and an inept show of force.
The government is causing the greatest harm to our beautiful country with unlawful practices that destroy Turkey's reputation and credibility in the world.
We will not surrender to the cowardice of this government, which rots justice a little more every day and applies the law of the enemy to everyone who is not one of them.
Whatever price we have to pay, we will bring that ballot box before the nation, and we will not allow this coup alliance, which has descended like a nightmare upon our country, to block Turkey's path any further.
The arrest of our Beykoz Mayor Alaattin Köseler following four days in detention, based on a political decision, has once again shown that the government's intention is to slaughter justice.
