CHP Chairman Özgür Özel's statement on Istanbul and Hatay: 'TİP has the potential to cause a loss'

CHP leader Özgür Özel spoke to İsmail Saymaz from Sözcü.

Speaking about the number of districts they will win in Istanbul, Özel said, "We have a hope of 14 plus 14. I think we will exceed 20," he said.

CHP'S HATAY CONCERN

Özel also responded to a question about whether they are 'behind in Hatay' as follows: "The best alternative in Hatay was Lütfü Savaş. Good news is coming from Hatay. We are in a neck-and-neck race. The TİP candidate has the potential to cause an election loss.

In Hatay, the duty falls to opposition voters. Will it be AKP or CHP; they will decide. The AKP winning would cause a historical defeat. We are telling opposition voters to support the CHP. We will not make them regret this support. We will do the cooperation we could not do while determining candidates during the administration phase."

CURRENT SITUATION IN IZMIR

The CHP leader stated that when they add up the DEM Party and IYI Party, which did not field candidates in 2019, with the AKP and MHP, 'the election has become neck-and-neck' in Izmir, saying, "Currently there is a five to five-and-a-half point difference," he said:

"We have no risk in Izmir, but against someone like Hamza Dağ, who hides Erdoğan's photo and his party's logo, who engages in dissimulation, but who there is no doubt would allocate all of Izmir's spaces to TÜRGEV and TÜGVA if he came to power, and who is the most important supporter of the Ensar Foundation, the people of Izmir need to protect their party so they do not have nightmares."

"OUR PARTY DOES NOT GIVE CREDIT TO THOSE BUSY WITH PETTY CALCULATIONS"

Özel gave the following response to Saymaz's comment that 'some CHP members are seeking revenge in the local elections':

"We think we will achieve great success on March 31. If there are those who have other calculations on April 1, that is their calculation. But the palace also has a calculation. They know this: 'We left the CHP alone. If the CHP wins March 31 on its own, it will be very damaging for the government and very strengthening for the CHP.'

The palace is doing everything it can to prevent this from happening. I think even the deep state is doing everything it can. Various levels of the state are doing everything they can. The distinction between party and state has disappeared.

When things are going well, the fact that some people are waiting for a disaster is because they think the success of the CHP is the end of their own politics. Neither our party nor our voters give credit to those who are busy with petty calculations."
