CHP delegation visits Istanbul Governor Gül over 'mosque' incident
A delegation from the Republican People's Party (CHP) visited Istanbul Governor Davut Gül.
CHP Deputy Chairmen Suat Özçağdaş, Deniz Yavuzyılmaz, and Sevgi Kılıç, along with CHP Istanbul Provincial Chairman Özgür Çelik, visited Istanbul Governor Davut Gül in his office.
Making statements after the visit, CHP Provincial Chairman Çelik said, "We are warning all protesters. There is absolutely no one among those protesters who would engage in negative behavior at the mosque wall. Those who do so are provocateurs.
Anyone who climbs onto a mosque wall to drink something or stands by that wall to do something is a provocateur. Specifically, it was done and caused to be done intentionally. None of the protesters would do such a thing to a mosque."
Çelik added, "We will be at Saraçhane Square, and other groups have also called for an iftar program inside the mosque. We have come to meet with the Istanbul Governor regarding this. We do not know or recognize the groups making the call. These calls were made through various anonymous accounts."
