CHP's Ağbaba calculates the 'should-be' holiday bonus for retirees: He explained it one by one

Reminding that the holiday bonus, which started at 1,000 TL in 2018, even exceeded the lowest pension of 939 TL that year, CHP's Veli Ağbaba announced the amount that should be given to retirees based on the same ratio.

Ağbaba said, "When the 1,000 lira retiree bonus was introduced in 2018, the lowest pension was 939 lira."

CHP's Veli Ağbaba emphasized that the bonus has eroded by 72 percent compared to today's lowest pension of 14,469 TL.

THE HOLIDAY BONUS THAT SHOULD NORMALLY BE

Arguing that the bonus should be at least 15,337 TL, Ağbaba stated that the current figure remains symbolic for retirees. Ağbaba expressed the following:

"Compared to the 14,469 TL lowest pension determined for 2025, the announced 4,000 TL bonus has suffered a 72 percent loss over the years.

When the 1,000 lira retiree bonus was introduced in 2018, the lowest pension was 939 lira.

The retiree bonus was 1.06 times the salary.

It was announced that the retiree bonus for 2025 would be paid as 4,000 lira.

The practice of paying bonuses to our retirees during holidays was first brought up by our party in 2018.

The AKP also started paying a 1,000 TL holiday bonus based on the promise it made in the 2018 election. When the holiday bonus started to be paid as 1,000 TL in 2018, the lowest pension was 939 TL. In other words, a holiday bonus equal to one salary was being paid. However, since it was not updated at the same rate over the years, the holiday bonus eroded and became symbolic.

Compared to the 14,469 TL lowest pension determined for 2025, the announced 4,000 TL bonus has suffered a 72% loss.

For the holiday bonus not to lose value, it must be AT LEAST 15,337 TL for 2025.
