Protest by CHP's Akdoğan in front of TRT: Harsh reaction to the scandalous broadcast on November 10

CHP Ankara Deputy Umut Akdoğan made a press statement in front of the TRT General Directorate.

In his speech here, Akdoğan said, "The thing that can be said right now about the television we grew up with, the television of the generations before us, is this; our grandfather is officially being insulted in our father's house. If TRT is our institution, if TRT is the institution of the Turkish people, if TRT is one of our father's houses, I say it clearly; we will not let them insult our grandfather in our father's house."

"THEY ARE NOT DOING PUBLIC BROADCASTING"

Akdoğan continued his statement with the following expressions:

"A television station established to make the voice of the nation heard is not broadcasting the voice of the nation in any way. It is not conveying the troubles of the nation in any way. This place is the home of 86 million, and the voice of 86 million should be heard here. An institution established to do public broadcasting is not doing public broadcasting; it is doing 'long live the sultan' broadcasting. An institution established to do public broadcasting is not doing public broadcasting; it is acting as a mouthpiece for the government. An institution established to do public broadcasting is not doing public broadcasting; it is doing palace sycophancy."

"TRT IS BROADCASTING IN HD BUT THE CONTENT IS FINISHED"

Continuing his criticisms of TRT, Akdoğan said, "TRT's broadcasting is HD, but it is finished in terms of content. They have finished a huge institution, the great TRT. I am making my call to TRT. TRT, broadcast in black and white, live with honor. The periods when TRT broadcast in black and white were better than this period."

NOVEMBER 10 REACTION

Criticizing TRT's November 10 broadcast, Akdoğan said, "A TRT that airs a program called 'Smile at Life with Alişan' on November 10, the anniversary of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk's death, and then has people dancing in the studio, is null and void to me. Throw this institution away!"

"THEY ARE MISUSING THE MONEY COLLECTED FROM CITIZENS"

Reacting to TRT's sources of income, Akdoğan said, "They receive a lot of money from the citizens. They mislead the citizens with the money they receive. They take it from the banderole, they take it from the communication tax."

"A 20 PERCENT INCREASE WILL COME WITH A NEW REGULATION"

Regarding the new work prepared on the TRT share, Akdoğan said the following:

"They take it as a TRT share; they take it from those who buy tablets, those who buy televisions, those who buy computers, those who buy satellite receivers. And now, they are embarking on a new preparation. They want to bring a new regulation to the Parliament. If they bring this regulation, this place will collect so much more money on behalf of the public that, whether it is the computer, tablet, headphones, or phone you buy... Whatever money you pay for a television today, whatever you buy for your children or yourself, you will buy it with a 20 percent increase. If you buy something for 10 liras today, it will be 12 liras so that this place can spout more nonsense."
