CHP's Emir: They don't hesitate to twist even the proposals they wrote themselves to corner İmamoğlu
In a post on his social media account, CHP's Emir criticized the regulation, arguing that the 11th Judicial Package submitted by the AKP to the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) contains "tailor-made clauses."
CHP Group Deputy Chairman Murat Emir described the exclusion of the crime of 'insulting a public official' from the scope of advance payment in the 11th Judicial Package as a 'tailor-made' regulation. Emir said, "They do not hesitate to twist even the proposals they wrote themselves to corner Ekrem İmamoğlu, whom they cannot defeat politically."
Emir stated that although the package includes all insult crimes within the scope of advance payment, the crime of "insulting a public official due to their duty" has been excluded from this scope, adding that this carries a political motive.
Murat Emir's social media post is as follows:
“The case in which our presidential candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu was being tried for 'insulting a public official due to their duty' over his remarks directed at prosecutors was dropped last month when the government included some insult crimes in the 9th Judicial Package, which it had previously submitted to parliament, within the scope of advance payment.
Now, the same government is including all insult crimes within the scope of advance payment with two tailor-made clauses in the 11th Judicial Package it brought to parliament, but it is excluding insults against a public official due to their duty from advance payment and the scope of conciliation.
In other words, remarks directed at a public official, especially if a political figure is involved, will automatically lead to a lawsuit.
They do not hesitate to twist even the proposals they wrote themselves to corner Ekrem İmamoğlu, whom they cannot defeat politically.
And despite all these efforts, the reality they fear will not change.
When the ballot box arrives, they will find millions who want to see their presidential candidate by their side standing against them."
