CHP's Konuralp reacts to investigation launched against METU students

CHP's Konuralp called for the termination of the investigation launched by the Rectorate against students who protested the removal of the Devrim Stadium from the METU Spring Festival program, stating, "The Rectorate must show respect for its students' peaceful actions and demands."

Okan Konuralp noted the following:

"In recent weeks, METU students carried out one of the most peaceful and colorful protests of recent years. They demanded the return of the Devrim Stadium, the main stage of the traditional spring festivals, from the Rectorate.

Instead of responding positively to this demand, the Rectorate chose to accuse its students of disrupting the peace of the university and obstructing education.

It launched an investigation into the students with a request for suspension from school. This choice shows that the Rectorate has much to learn from its own students, who observe and protect the rights and laws of everyone.

The Rectorate must immediately stop the investigations it has launched against the students and must show respect for its students' peaceful actions and demands."
