CHP Deputy Chairman responsible for the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, Deniz Yavuzyılmaz, explained the behind-the-scenes of the new era on his social media account X.

CHP Deputy Chairman Deniz Yavuzyılmaz announced that starting February 1, there will be a 96 percent hike for residential subscribers whose monthly bills are 1,049 Turkish Liras and above.

Yavuzyılmaz included the new and old tariff rates in a post he made on his social media account titled "Facts that the AK Party is trying to hide from the citizens' attention-1."

Yavuzyılmaz used the following expressions:

''First, with a decision it made, the AK Party included millions of residential subscribers in the definition of free consumers. Then, it removed residential subscribers with monthly bills of 1,049 TL and above from the fixed-price tariff and included them in the variable-price tariff where the Market Clearing Price (PTF) applies.

Thus, it left these subscribers at the mercy of private electricity generation companies, which produce 83 percent of the country's electricity due to privatizations and are the main determinants of the PTF.

This is called crushing the citizen under inflation in plain sight. In the coming months, it is expected that residential subscribers with a monthly electricity consumption of over 495 TL will also be included in the variable-price tariff, and electricity bills will see a 140 percent hike.”
