CHP Elazığ Deputy Erol: I do not find the resignations of our Party Assembly members to be correct

In the CHP, 28 out of the 57 members of the Party Assembly, who were returned to their duties by a decision of 'absolute nullity', have resigned.

Thus, in accordance with Article 24/3 of the Party Charter, both the Party Assembly and the Central Executive Board elected from within it have officially fallen. Following this, CHP Elazığ Deputy Gürsel Erol made assessments.

Deputy Erol said, "I do not find the resignations of our Party Assembly members to be correct, and I consider this to be their own choice. However, I do not find the demands from our colleagues for me to resign as well to be correct.

At our party's 37th Ordinary Congress, I was elected as a member of the Party Assembly by receiving one of the highest vote counts in CHP history. Therefore, my responsibility is to protect the rights of my party and my party members, and to express my views and suggestions at Party Assembly meetings.

I have stated that the process for an ordinary or extraordinary congress should be initiated as soon as possible within the framework of legal grounds, and that this division experienced in our party can only be overcome through the will of a congress. Furthermore, I have expressed that our Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu should announce to the public that he will not be a candidate in the upcoming ordinary or extraordinary Congress.

I have stated that I absolutely do not find it correct to establish a separate party or to resign from the party to join different political formations. I emphasized that such an approach is not in line with the party culture and history of the CHP; and that history will hold accountable anyone who contributes to the perception that the CHP is dividing."
