CHP emerges as the winner from Cübbeli Ahmet's ballot box
The CHP came in first at the ballot box where Ahmet Mahmut Ünlü, known to the public as Cübbeli Ahmet, cast his vote. In a video shared before the local elections, Ünlü had claimed that it was not permissible to vote for parties outside of the People's Alliance.
The CHP emerged as the winner from the ballot box of Ahmet Mahmut Ünlü, known to the public as "Cübbeli Ahmet," who was expelled from the İsmailağa community shortly before the elections.
Ahmet Mahmut Ünlü, who was expelled from the İsmailağa Community and is known to the public as Cübbeli Ahmet, had claimed in a video he released before the March 31 Local Elections that those who vote for the New Welfare Party (YRP) and the Felicity Party (Saadet Partisi) would be committing a sin.
However, the metropolitan municipality results for ballot box number 1104 at the İçerenköy Hasan Leyli Secondary School, where Cübbeli cast his vote, were as follows:
CHP: 130 AKP: 104 YRP: 8 DEM: 1 IYI Party: 4 MHP: 0
In the district mayoral elections, the CHP also outperformed the AKP by a significant margin.
Sözcü columnist İsmail Saymaz, in his column today regarding the matter, commented: “This result shows that the people of Ataşehir did not heed Cübbeli's fatwa. It is already obvious that Cübbeli's prayer was not accepted by God either.”
