CHP figure claims 'it was Ferdi Başkan's turn for investigations': 'I am sharing this for the first time'

A striking statement has been made regarding Manisa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ferdi Zeyrek, who passed away after being electrocuted at his home, leaving millions in mourning.

CHP Group Deputy Chairman Gökhan Günaydın made highly discussed remarks during his appearance on Tele1.

Stating, "I am sharing this for the first time," Günaydın expressed that he had received various reports before Zeyrek's death.

Emphasizing that there is a process of pressure directed at the CHP and CHP-run municipalities, Günaydın said the following:

"I am sharing this for the first time. I felt that an investigation or prosecution process could even begin for Mayor Ferdi. Reports were coming in; documents were circulating.

They want to come in waves against the Republican People's Party and its municipalities; there was a possibility that Mayor Ferdi would also be caught up in it.

But the citizens showed: 'I stand behind this mayor.'

When the moderator asked, "You said, 'I have a suspicion that it might have been his turn.' Do you have any suspicions regarding his death?" Günaydın gave the following response:

"There is a saying: 'A country's state can be understood by how its people die.' A mayor of a major metropolitan city lost his life in an unbelievable way. Now, there is a pool room there. There is an electric current in the pool room, a relay... It is extremely natural for that area to be a high-humidity region, a hot region, and for the motors to be running. In that case, all that installation must be resistant to that humidity and heat. But it is not... He was exposed to an electric current. For me, what is important is that the investigation is ongoing."
