CHP Chairman Özgür Özel was attacked following the funeral ceremony of DEM Party MP Sırrı Süreyya Önder, who passed away.

It was revealed that the attacker was Selçuk Tengioğlu, who murdered his own children 21 years ago.

Speaking on Halk TV, CHP Group Deputy Chairman Ali Mahir Başarır reported that the attacker Selçuk Tengioğlu's daughter, who lives abroad, called the CHP Headquarters and expressed that she was saddened by what had happened.

Başarır said, "She called, said she was very sad, and explained what she had been through.

That child of ours is also a victim of this man. She buried two of her siblings, and she herself moved abroad.

That child's only misfortune is having such a father," he said.
