CHP figures react to Çerçioğlu: 'She is no Efe, from now on we will call her the high-heeled spinning top'

Speaking at the 'Aydın stands up for its will' gathering held in the city after Aydın Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Özlem Çerçioğlu moved from the CHP to the AKP, CHP Deputy Chairman Murat Bakan said, “The term 'heel-runner' is very fitting, but the term 'Efe' does not suit her. She is no Efe. In our culture, we call those who flip-flop either 'fırdöndü' (weathercock) or 'topaç' (spinning top). At most, she is a spinning top. From now on, we will call her the 'high-heeled spinning top'.”

Speaking at the gathering, CHP Aydın MP Bülent Tezcan made a statement about the 'disgrace' and said the following:

“From today on, there is a struggle between those who write epics in Aydın and those who destroy them. From today on, we have a struggle and a fight against those who mock the sweat of those who work until dawn to write epics in Aydın, and who use that sweat as capital for gambling and bargaining tables. Our fellow citizens took off their high heels, but the heels have broken. The disgrace has begun to flow down to the heels. She said, 'Those who betray their fellow travelers cannot look the people in the face.' She says, 'Falling into a dungeon is more honorable than falling into betrayal.' Listen, those of you who are only concerned with saving your own skin. Listen, those of you who seek your own fortune, political future, and commercial future at the gates of oppression in Ankara... There is no passage for you in Aydın from now on. There is no passage for you at the ballot box in Aydın from now on.”

"SHE STARTED LEARNING SLANDER WHILE GOING TO THE AKP"

Tezcan also reacted to the expressions in the letter where Çerçioğlu resigned, stating the following:

“In her written statement while leaving, the lady cited as a reason, 'There are intra-party problems. My principles of honesty made it impossible for me to walk with the CHP. My understanding of service in accordance with the law eliminated my ability to walk the same path as the CHP. I am tired of anti-democratic practices. That is why I am leaving.' The interesting thing is that she lost these in the CHP and went to the AKP to find them. She is looking for democracy and an understanding of service in accordance with the law under the protection of a single man. She is chasing honesty under his protection. She is chasing a life without problems under his protection. There is a tradition of slander that we have seen in the AKP's recent conspiracy operations. They carry out conspiracy operations with slanderers... This person started learning slander on the road to Ankara even while going to the AKP. Even before joining the AKP, she started slandering the entire CHP family with her statements. But it is impossible for her to make anyone believe this.”

"WE DO NOT FORGIVE OUR VOTES AND OUR LABOR"

Calling for a 'resignation from office' through the Nazilli Mayor, Tezcan said, “We are facing another immoral attitude. Forcing municipal employees who are trying to earn their bread to resign from the CHP with threats to their jobs and livelihoods. If there is even a crumb of loyalty left... It was the CHP that made you a metropolitan mayor. You sat in those seats with the sweat of everyone you are threatening with their bread and livelihood today. The seat you sit in is thanks to those people. May it be forbidden to you. There was Kürşat Engin Özcan, the Nazilli Mayor from the Nation Alliance. When he resigned and went to the AKP, you said, 'We do not forgive the votes we gave you. Those people gave those votes to our Nation Alliance, not to you.' This organization gave you the positions you have occupied for 23 years. You needed to protect the honor of the position you have occupied for 23 years for just 1 day. They threatened you. While your comrades were being held captive in Silivri, you had a duty to protect the honor of the position you have occupied for 23 years. You could not protect that honor for 1 day. You are not the 'High-Heeled Efe'. You are a fugitive. The sin of the votes of the people of Aydın for 344 days is on your neck. You were the one saying to Kürşat Engin Özcan, 'We do not forgive you.' We also do not forgive our votes and our labor to you. May it be forbidden. May the people hold you accountable for this high-heeled disgrace when the time comes.”

CHP Deputy Chairman Murat Bakan, who made the final speech of the meeting, stated the following:

Reacting to the speech Çerçioğlu made after wearing the AKP badge, he said, “There is a speech Özlem Çerçioğlu made at the AKP participation ceremony. The lady said, 'My forehead is clear, my head is held high.' Her forehead is clear, her head is held high! She said, 'There are allegations about me. Let them present them. I have no legal problems.' As if our friends who are in prison have committed a crime. At a point where the judiciary has become so politicized during this government's term, where AKP militants have been brought to critical points of the state, to critical prosecutor's offices, and to peace criminal judgeships, it is as if our friends in prison have committed a crime and are in prison! All the mayors who did business with Aziz İhsan Aktaş have been detained and arrested. You are one of those who did business with him. It is clear that you have become part of such an operation to avoid going to prison.”

"THE LADY IS NOT ENTERING THE PRESIDENT'S PROTECTION FOR NOTHING"

Pointing out that the shares of Çerçioğlu's husband have risen, Bakan also touched upon the words 'president's protection' and said the following:

“While leaving, she makes some criticisms about the CHP. Well, lady, you were doing somersaults to be photographed next to the chairman at the İzmir rally. You were pushing through the bodyguards and deputy chairmen. If you are criticizing the CHP this much, you were elbowing people to be photographed in the front row at the meetings at the headquarters. What happened? The shares of her husband's company increased by 10 percent in two days, friends. I am not the one saying that JANTSA is in economic trouble and its market share is shrinking; everyone dealing with Borsa Istanbul securities is saying it. They say investors earned 200 million in two days. So, this operation is, in one aspect, an operation of kneeling before his majesty. That is, she knelt before Erdoğan. What does she say? 'I will serve under the President's protection from now on,' she says. Wasn't the President everyone's president? Didn't you take an oath of impartiality in parliament? It means you were not under the President's protection when you were a CHP member. Being under the President's protection means being exempt from the judiciary. Being under the President's protection means no civil inspectors will come to the municipality, no Court of Accounts auditors will come. It means the credit taps will be opened wide for her husband's company. So, the lady is not entering the President's protection for nothing.”

"THE DEFINITION OF EFE DOES NOT SUIT HER"

“She was called the 'Heel-running Efe'. The definition of heel-running is very nice, but the definition of Efe does not suit her. An Efe is brave, a symbol of resistance. Now she is on the same side as those she called vile mullahs. I represent that governor. I have never had any problems with him to this day. But these terms, that is, the people she called vile conspirators and trap-setters regarding the AKP members, have become the most democratic people today. She is leaving by criticizing the people who defend the Republic, Atatürk's principles and revolutions, and who fight for the democracy of this country. We do not believe this. Those who go down in history are those who resist oppression. Today, history will write our friends. History will write Utku Caner, Resul Emrah, Zeydan Karalar, Muhittin Böcek. History will write Ekrem İmamoğlu. The history that wrote Deniz Gezmiş and Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, that is, the history that writes the people who resist oppression and fight against the collaborators of imperialism, will also throw her into its own trash heap.”
