The Republican People's Party (CHP) has initiated disciplinary proceedings against Uşak Mayor Özkan Yalım. Party Spokesperson Zeynel Emre announced that Yalım, who was arrested as part of an ongoing investigation, has been referred to the High Disciplinary Board with a request for permanent expulsion, pending the outcome of the process.
The party leadership activated the disciplinary mechanism in light of the ongoing judicial process. The statement noted that the referral was made with a request for "permanent expulsion" and includes precautionary measures.
HOW DID THE PROCESS BEGIN?
Uşak Mayor Özkan Yalım was detained on March 27 along with 12 other individuals. Following the public emergence of footage allegedly filmed in a hotel room, allegations surfaced that Yalım had accepted bribes. Following the detention process, Yalım was arrested on March 30.
PARTY MEMBERSHIP HAD BEEN SUSPENDED
CHP Spokesperson Zeynel Emre had previously announced that Yalım's party membership had been suspended due to the footage in question. It was announced that two legal experts had been assigned to the case and that a comprehensive investigation would be conducted.
