CHP's Özgür Çelik reacts to 'fire sale' of Tele1: It will open property security to debate

In the TMSF's sale announcement, ABC Radyo Televizyon ve Dijital Yayıncılık AŞ and TELE1 Prodüksiyon Medya ve Reklam Hizmetleri Sanayi Ticaret Limited Şirketi, which are the owners of Tele1, are defined as the "owners."

The estimated value of the "TELE1 TV Commercial and Economic Integrity" offered for sale was announced as 28 million TL.

ÖZGÜR ÇELİK REACTED

One of those reacting to the trustee's sale decision was CHP Istanbul Provincial Chair Özgür Çelik.

Çelik used the following expressions in a statement he made on his social media account:

"There can be no such fire sale!

Tele1 is a channel that has grown under the leadership of Merdan Yanardağ, with the support of Atatürkists, Republicans, and democrats, and through the years of effort and sweat of journalists.

There is no side to this that can be explained by law or morality: arresting Merdan Yanardağ, who has spent his life fighting imperialism, on baseless allegations and putting Tele1 up for a fire sale before he has even seen a courtroom.

We expect the TMSF to reverse this decision immediately, which will cause much greater damage to our economy—for which our people have paid heavy prices to fix—and will further open property security to debate."
