CHP leader Özgür Özel makes a fierce statement on 'Gülşah Durbay': 'I am a coward if I don't hold you accountable'

Allegations were made regarding Manisa Şehzadeler Mayor Gülşah Durbay claiming she had a relationship with CHP Chairman Özgür Özel. Durbay, who stated that she is undergoing cancer treatment, denied these allegations and announced that she had been slandered.

CHP leader Özgür Özel addressed the Gülşah Durbay issue at the first group meeting held in the new legislative term. 

'SHE IS LIKE OUR OWN CHILD...'

Özel stated the following:

"We have all embarked on a difficult path. Whatever comes from the outside, it is nothing. You will look at your fellow party members. They are members of the party founded by Gazi Mustafa Kemal. Last week, they took this to a very immoral dimension. They claimed that my university friend, with whom I have been together for 31 years, and the mother of my only daughter, had filed for divorce. I couldn't believe it. They didn't stop.

Gülşah Durbay won with her honesty and integrity. To such immorality, to such lack of principles, to such evil... If the matter weren't about the promise I made to Atatürk, I would say 'Damn you all' and do something else... To attack me, they turned the specific days Gülşah was lying in the hospital into an immoral slander. She has had bowel disease since childhood. I and my pharmacist wife are the ones who follow it most closely. She is like our own child. 

'THEY WROTE IT WHILE SHE WAS UNDERGOING CHEMOTHERAPY'

They had that news written while my child Gülşah was undergoing chemotherapy. We will defeat this government. But while we defeat this government, we will do it with our honor. Those who spread it... Has anyone seen those who appear to be CHP members in the organization or in the field during the last election?"
