The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has launched an investigation into the Bayrampaşa Municipality on charges of "embezzlement," "extortion," "giving bribes," "receiving bribes," and "rigging tenders."

Within the scope of the investigation, detention warrants were issued for 48 suspects, including Bayrampaşa Mayor Hasan Mutlu.

DETAINED COUNCIL MEMBER WAS THREATENED 2 MONTHS AGO

It has been learned that CHP Municipal Council member Deniz Uykan, who was detained as part of the operation, was threatened via WhatsApp in July.

According to the report in Cumhuriyet, unidentified individuals sent Uykan a blank template for a party resignation letter along with the message: “Do not be afraid and do not try to run. We have our eyes on you. The state is always 18 years old. Do not forget.”

In another message sent by the individuals, the phrase "Wait! Irregular council membership. We will now send your salvation prescription and medicine. Do not forget to take your medicine daily on an empty stomach in the morning" was used, accompanied by a photo of handcuffs. It was reported that Uykan filed a criminal complaint regarding the matter through his lawyer.
