CHP's Vahap Seçer criticizes his party's 'normalization' stance: 'Chasing unnecessary fantasies...'

Speaking on the 'normalization' debates in politics, CHP Mersin Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Vahap Seçer stated, "The task for the CHP right now is to provide support for the success of municipalities and to focus on the economy, which is Turkey's real agenda. Chasing unnecessary fantasies like normalization, softening... These are not the agenda of the main opposition party."

CHP's Vahap Seçer criticizes his party's 'normalization' stance: 'Chasing unnecessary fantasies...'

The arrest of CHP's Esenyurt Mayor Ahmet Özer and the appointment of a trustee in his place continue to remain on the agenda.

CHP Mersin Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Vahap Seçer made evaluations regarding the latest developments in politics.

Responding to questions from journalist Özlem Akarsu Çelik, Seçer said the following regarding Ahmet Özer's detention:

“At 5 in the morning, the Esenyurt Mayor is taken from his bed, and then the leader of the main opposition is thanked. This paradoxical situation needs to be thought about. We are the main opposition party and we must perform our opposition duty. They are simultaneously loving, beating, and soothing. A party has a corporate identity, internal discipline, and party bylaws. Not everyone should speak from a different mouth. If a party moves away from this, it becomes easy to dismantle that party.

CRITICISM OF NORMALIZATION

I think the current party management needs to be much more careful about this. The task for the CHP right now is to provide support for the success of municipalities and to focus on the economy, which is Turkey's real agenda. Chasing unnecessary fantasies like normalization, softening... These are not the agenda of the main opposition party.”

"THE VOTER DOES NOT WANT TO SEE A DISORGANIZED PARTY"

Seçer stated that the debate over the presidential candidacy started too early within the party and that the pro-government press is manipulating this.

Seçer continued as follows:

“The headquarters executives and the actors mentioned must see this. The voter does not want to see a disorganized party. We need to move away from cliques and internal party debates. If there is a party that prioritizes its corporate identity and adheres to internal party discipline, none of these debates would happen. Politicians should also know how to remain silent if they are not doing anything on such critical issues. The statements of the chairman and a mayor should not contradict each other."

"THERE CAN BE NO PEACE PROCESS WITHOUT CHP AND MHP"

Speaking about the "new solution process" debates, Seçer noted the following:

“If a peace process is to be carried out, it cannot happen without the CHP and the MHP. However, government officials do not call it a peace process. In the first peace process, the CHP and MHP remained outside the process and opposed it. I do not believe there is such sincerity today either. There is a Kurdish issue. It is not only in Turkey but also in Iraq, Iran, and Syria, and among these four countries, the country that can overcome this most easily is Turkey. The authorized officials of the CHP need to scrutinize and produce policies carefully. One should not jump at every word.”
