CHP members gather in front of Beşiktaş Municipality: A call had been issued to the party organization

As part of an investigation into a criminal organization in Istanbul, Beşiktaş Mayor Rıza Akpolat and 47 municipal employees were detained. After a four-day detention period, the detained municipal employees and Akpolat gave statements for nearly 10 hours yesterday (January 16). Following their statements, Akpolat and 38 municipal personnel were referred to the duty magistrate by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office with a request for arrest. Following the decision, the CHP called on its party organization to gather in front of Beşiktaş Municipality. CHP members gathered in front of Beşiktaş Municipality and began chanting slogans.

The prosecutor's office requested the arrest of a total of 39 people out of the 47 detained, including Mayor Akpolat. 8 people were released under judicial control conditions.

CHP members gathered in front of the municipal building to support Akpolat and the municipal employees, who were detained as part of an operation targeting a criminal organization allegedly led by Aziz İhsan Aktaş.

BEDAŞ ANNOUNCES 2-HOUR POWER OUTAGE

According to a report by Halk TV, BEDAŞ announced a two-hour power outage in Beşiktaş following the call made by the CHP.

The gathered group was seen singing the İzmir March and the Gündoğdu March.

CHP Group Deputy Chairman Ali Mahir Başarır, in his statement to TV channels, said, 'Together with our people, we will show a resistance unprecedented in history... The CHP received the votes of 7 out of every 10 people here... there is a situation that goes beyond us.'

Meanwhile, Akpolat's testimony process before the magistrate has been completed. Following the testimony, the judge may announce their decision based on their opinion. However, the common practice is to announce the decision after all testimonies have been taken. In this case, the judge's decision-making process could last until morning.
