Striking claim from CHP's Özer: 'False witnesses are being sought for Mr. Ekrem İmamoğlu'
CHP MP and lawyer Turan Taşkın Özer made striking allegations regarding the investigation into Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu in a post on his social media account.
In a post on his social media account, Özer made striking allegations and stated the following:
"False witnesses are being sought for our İBB Mayor, Mr. Ekrem İmamoğlu!
You heard that right!
Female inmates are being threatened by the prosecutor's office via SEGBİS, with the words, 'If you do not cooperate, you will not be able to see your children for years,' and are being forced to provide false testimony against Ekrem İmamoğlu…
And that is not all!
People he knew during his time as the Mayor of Beylikdüzü are being summoned to the prosecutor's office and forced to give statements. They are being kept under pressure with the threat, 'If you do not confess, I will put you in prison for perjury.'
Faced with a lack of evidence, the judiciary is causing great harm to the justice system and casting a shadow over the independence of the judiciary by trying to fill cases with fabricated witnesses."
