CHP MP reveals associations, foundations, and unions they want invited to the commission: The Ahmet Özer detail

The National Solidarity, Brotherhood, and Democracy Commission met for the 3rd time today at the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM). CHP İzmir MP Murat Bakan announced on his social media account the associations, foundations, and unions that the CHP wants to be invited to the commission to provide their input.

In his speech at the TBMM's National Solidarity, Brotherhood, and Democracy Commission, Bakan stated that he views the process from the perspective of martyrs and veterans, saying, "No solution that does not gain their consent can be a real solution; it will remain incomplete and will not find resonance in society."

Stating that he has been an MP for 10 years working on security policies, the rights of soldiers, police, martyrs' families, and veterans, CHP İzmir MP Murat Bakan said, "My fundamental approach in the commission is to place the pain and sensitivities experienced by the Turkish Armed Forces, the Police Department, the Gendarmerie, the Coast Guard, and our security forces who have been on the front lines in the fight against terrorism at the center. This is a point that our Chairman has also repeated with sensitivity since the beginning of the process. For 50 years, this country's resources have been spent on terrorism. We have lost hundreds of billions of dollars. Most importantly, we have lost tens of thousands of our children as martyrs. Thousands have become veterans. Mothers, fathers, spouses, and children have had to live with wounds that will last a lifetime. I look at this issue from the place where those martyrs and veterans are. No solution that does not gain their consent can be a real solution; it will remain incomplete and will not find resonance in society."

Bakan pointed out that the commission must listen not only to academics and non-governmental organizations but also to representatives of the segments that have paid the heaviest price in the fight against terrorism, and made the following proposal:

"In this context; associations and foundations working for the public good such as the Turkey Association of War Invalids, Veterans, Martyrs' Widows and Orphans, the Turkey Combat Veterans Association, and the Police Department Duty-Disabled and Martyrs' Families Foundation; the Turkey Retired Officers Association (TESUD), the Turkey Retired Non-Commissioned Officers Association (TEMAD), the Turkey Retired Specialists Association, and village guard associations and federations established by law should be invited to this commission, and their views and suggestions should be taken. These three institutions that work for the public good should not be invited to the commission just once; they should be enabled to follow every commission meeting, and their views and suggestions should be utilized until the end of the process. In addition, the contribution of institutions representing both law enforcement officers who have served in the field and personnel in the General Administrative Services class who have fallen as martyrs due to terrorism, such as in the Merasim Street attack, like the Police Department Union and the Civil Servants Union, should also be ensured."
