CHP Central Executive Board agenda focuses on 'long-term action plan': Poll results also on the table

The CHP Central Executive Board (MYK) met at the Party Headquarters under the chairmanship of CHP Chairman Özgür Özel. The meeting, which began at 1:45 PM, lasted approximately five hours. The agenda included the ongoing 'pensioner vigil' in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM), the rally schedule, the latest situation in Syria, legal proceedings against CHP-run municipalities, and opinion polls. During the MYK meeting chaired by Özgür Özel, the regulation regarding the increase of the minimum pension, which is expected to be discussed in the TBMM General Assembly this week, was put on the table. While the CHP's vigil in the TBMM regarding pension salaries continues on its 12th day, polls brought to the agenda at the MYK showed that the CHP maintains its position as the leading party. In data based on voters over the age of 65, it was noted that the CHP is the leading party with 34.5 percent of the vote, while the AK Party is the second party with 19 percent.

83rd rally in Çekmeköy, 84th rally in Yalova

The CHP continues its rallies themed "The Nation Protects Its Will." In this context, the 83rd rally will be held in Çekmeköy on Wednesday, January 21; the 84th rally will be held in Yalova on Saturday, January 24. The address for the provincial rally the CHP will hold next week is planned to be Çorum. The CHP is also evaluating a new roadmap for the rallies held in an Istanbul district on Wednesday evenings. Party officials stated that they will continue to be in the field with different methods after the 39 districts are completed, and noted that Chairman Özgür Özel will continue to dedicate Wednesdays to Istanbul with openings of CHP-run municipalities, as well as shopkeeper and market visits.

"Long-term" action plan in Silivri

CHP Chairman Özel will be in Istanbul on Friday, January 23, for the fourth hearing of the case in which Esenyurt Mayor Ahmet Özer is being tried with a request for up to 15 years in prison. Furthermore, the CHP will be in Silivri with its entire organization during the trial of the party's presidential candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu, who is currently imprisoned in Silivri, which begins on March 9. Noting that the party is in serious preparation for the case and that legal expert deputies will be assigned and tasks divided to follow the trial, officials said, "We will plan a long-term action in Silivri; we will concentrate the power of the organization there."

"Sincerity test"

The "pensioner vigil" continuing in Parliament was among the agenda items of the meeting. The latest election polls were also brought to the agenda. According to the information received, the CHP is the leading party with 34.5 percent of the vote in public opinion polls conducted on voters over the age of 65. The AKP is the second party with 19 percent of the vote. Emphasizing that the pensioner vigil, which began in the TBMM on January 5, will continue in provincial and district organizations, party officials said, "We will be there in full force when the regulation comes to the General Assembly. We will do our part. If everyone who calls this figure a 'starvation wage' does their part, pensioners are the majority. This will be a test of sincerity." It was learned that Özel will also participate in the vote.

A one-week program in the third year of the earthquake

The CHP will be in the region with a large delegation in the third year of the February 6 Kahramanmaraş-centered earthquakes. A few days before the anniversary, deputies, Party Assembly (PM) members, and the organization will head to the field. CHP Leader Özel is also expected to be in the earthquake zone for a week and participate in commemoration programs in Hatay, Adıyaman, Malatya, and Kahramanmaraş.
