CHP's Nazlıaka to meet with Family Minister Göktaş: What is on the agenda?
Aylin Nazlıaka, the CHP Deputy Chair responsible for Family and Social Services, has announced the topics she will bring to the table during her meeting with Minister Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş.
Following the meetings held between AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and CHP leader Özgür Özel after the March 31 Local Elections, a period of softening/normalization has begun in politics.
Aylin Nazlıaka, the Deputy Chair of the CHP's shadow cabinet responsible for Family and Social Services, will meet with the Minister of Family and Social Services, Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş, tomorrow. The meeting will take place in the duty minister's office at the Parliament.
PRIORITY TOPIC: FEMICIDE
According to the report by Cumhuriyet, Nazlıaka provided information regarding the topics she will raise, stating: “My priority topic will be violence against women and femicide, which is one of the most painful issues in the country. Recently, Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced data on femicide, but this data does not reflect the reality. It has no relation whatsoever to the data from the We Will Stop Femicide Platform. I will speak to Göktaş about the weakness in accessing accurate data.”
SURNAME IMPOSITION
Nazlıaka continued her remarks as follows:
“Furthermore, I will demand that the concealment of femicides under the guise of 'suspicious deaths' not be tolerated. I will discuss the KADES application, the inadequacy of electronic monitoring, the Violence Research Commission, the surname imposition in the 9th judicial package that ignores the principle of equality, the Law No. 6284 which is being attempted to be pruned, and the Civil Code which they want to rewrite from scratch.”
PROTOCOLS SIGNED WITH CULTS TO BE DISCUSSED
Stating that discriminatory practices among the relatives of martyrs and veterans will also be an important agenda item, Aylin Nazlıaka shared the information: “I will also request comprehensive information from them regarding the protocols signed with sects, which they describe as NGOs.”
