CHP's Nuri Aslan becomes Deputy Speaker of the IMM Assembly
Following the arrest of IMM Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, a vote for deputy speaker was held in the IMM Assembly. CHP candidate Nuri Aslan and People's Alliance candidate Zeynel Abidin Okul competed in the election. In the resulting vote, CHP candidate Nuri Aslan was elected as the Deputy Speaker of the IMM Assembly.
IMM Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu was removed from office by a decision of the Ministry of Interior after being arrested on charges of 'corruption'.
Following İmamoğlu's removal, the IMM Assembly convened to elect a deputy speaker.
The candidate for the People's Alliance, formed by the AKP, MHP, and BBP, was Zeynel Abidin Okul.
Nuri Aslan was nominated as the candidate for the CHP.
