CHP's Nuri Aslan becomes Deputy Speaker of the IMM Assembly

Following the arrest of IMM Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, a vote for deputy speaker was held in the IMM Assembly. CHP candidate Nuri Aslan and People's Alliance candidate Zeynel Abidin Okul competed in the election. In the resulting vote, CHP candidate Nuri Aslan was elected as the Deputy Speaker of the IMM Assembly.

CHP's Nuri Aslan becomes Deputy Speaker of the IMM Assembly

IMM Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu was removed from office by a decision of the Ministry of Interior after being arrested on charges of 'corruption'.

Following İmamoğlu's removal, the IMM Assembly convened to elect a deputy speaker.

The candidate for the People's Alliance, formed by the AKP, MHP, and BBP, was Zeynel Abidin Okul.

Nuri Aslan was nominated as the candidate for the CHP.

The voting process has now begun.

The candidate who wins a simple majority in the IMM Assembly will become the deputy speaker.

WHO IS NURİ ASLAN? WHERE IS HE FROM, HOW OLD IS HE?

Nuri Aslan was born in 1969 in the Koyulhisar district of Sivas. Continuing his education in Istanbul, Aslan completed his university studies at Yıldız Technical University. An engineer by training, Aslan began his career as a manager in the private sector before taking on active roles in local government.

Born in 1969, Nuri Aslan is 56 years old as of 2025. He is a figure who stands out with both his technical expertise and local government experience.

Nuri Aslan is registered to the population of the Koyulhisar district of Sivas province. However, he spent most of his childhood and youth in Istanbul. Known for the importance he places on solidarity among fellow citizens, Aslan has also taken on active roles in civil society organizations from Sivas.

Nuri Aslan graduated from the Yıldız Technical University Faculty of Engineering, Department of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering in 1990. Thanks to his engineering background, he held technical positions in the business world and later served in senior management.

NURİ ASLAN'S POLITICAL CAREER

Nuri Aslan is a figure who has long been involved in politics within the ranks of the Republican People's Party (CHP), actively participating in local government and various party bodies. He stepped into politics by serving in the Küçükçekmece Municipal Council between 1999 and 2004.

In the 2019 local elections, he was elected as a member of the Beylikdüzü Municipality and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Councils.

In the 2024 local elections, he was re-elected as a member of the Beylikdüzü Municipality and IMM Councils.
