CHP prepares for Saraçhane on the anniversary of March 19: It will last 2 days and 2 nights!
The CHP is preparing to hold a rally that will last 2 days and 2 nights at Saraçhane Square on the anniversary of March 19, the day when imprisoned presidential candidate and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu was taken into custody.
İBB Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, whose university diploma was cancelled on March 18, was taken into custody on the morning of March 19 as part of an investigation into corruption allegations against the İBB, and was subsequently arrested and sent to Silivri Prison on March 23.
Having launched the "Protecting the National Will" rallies across the country starting March 19 with the demand for İmamoğlu's release and early elections, the CHP is planning to hold a high-impact rally on the anniversary of March 19.
According to a report by Saygı Öztürk from Sözcü, the CHP will hold day-and-night rallies at Saraçhane Square for two days on March 18-19.
In his column today, Öztürk shared the information he obtained regarding the rally as follows:
"The rally, which begins during the day on March 18, will continue through the night. People will gather again at Saraçhane Square in the morning. Many artists, primarily Zülfü Livaneli, will give concerts. Young people who broke through barricades, were taken into custody, arrested, and released after spending some time in prison during those days will speak. In other words, according to CHP members, the Saraçhane rallies, which will last two days and two nights, will be the most crowded and most spectacular rallies."
